Antique Moorish Inspired Fretwork Altar
Hailing from mid to late 1800’s is this Moorish inspired altar. Built as much to show the artisan’s skill as for it’s purpose this piece was almost certainly made in central Europe but was inspired by the Moors of Spain who were known for this unique architectural style of fretwork over a solid base.
This particular piece is an altar piece with two off-setting steeples to the left and right of the primary altar. There is a drawer beneath the altar itself. The entire piece rests on raised bracket feet. The back is removable allowing for a larger piece to be placed into the altar. Of course, the entire piece is made in the unique relief style known to the Moors of Spain.
