A.N. Russell & Sons Ribbon Case with Oak Chest
Based out of Ilion, New York, A.N. Russell & Sons specialized in manufacturing cabinets used to store ribbons, spools, and other sewing supplies in the early 1900s. The cabinet above is a prime example of their most popular products. This cabinet likely would have hung on the wall or sat upon a counter to display sewing products for sale in a country store. This particular cabinet is made of solid oak and features old glass on the pull-down doors. It is placed upon an oak chest from the same time period. Stylistically, functionally, and proportionally, the two pieces seem like they were made for each other.
