Large Satsuma Style Gold-Adorned Urn
Description
This large Satsuma-style urn features an intricate hand-painted design of chrysanthemums, peonies, and butterflies framed by geometric panels, richly accented with gilt scroll handles and a gold-tipped lid. The Satsuma style originated in late-17th-century Japan and became renowned during the Meiji period for its finely crackled ivory glaze, elaborate polychrome enameling, and extensive use of gold detailing intended for export to the West.
