Description
This 1741 hand-colored engraving by Jacobus Houbraken depicts Daniel Finch, 2nd Earl of Nottingham and 7th Earl of Winchilsea, a prominent English Tory politician and peer who supported the Hanoverian Succession in 1714. Known as Lord Nottingham until 1729 and later as Lord Winchilsea, he is shown in formal robes of state beneath an ornate cartouche and family coat of arms. The engraving reflects Houbraken’s meticulous craftsmanship and commemorates Finch’s enduring role in early 18th-century British politics.
