Early 1900s American Gothic Arch Mantel Clock
Description
This mid-19th-century American “Beehive” or Gothic mantel clock dates to circa 1850–1870 and was likely made in the New Haven, Connecticut area by a firm such as Chauncey Jerome, New Haven Clock Co., or the American Clock Co. (NY). The clock features a spring-driven movement with bell strike, a mahogany or rosewood veneered case with a pointed Gothic arch, a papered Roman numeral dial, brass pendulum, and a reverse-painted lower tablet depicting a 19th-century building scene.

It retains its original interior paper label fragments, bell, and pendulum, with period lower glass showing signs of age and potential touchups to the painted background. Overall, this example presents as an honest and well-preserved survivor with attractive patina and dial crazing consistent with its age.
