This pair of hand-colored 19th-century racing etchings, titled “The Winning Post” and “Tattenham Corner,” were published in London on April 21st, 1871 by J. McQueen and depict the excitement of the British turf through the eye of celebrated sporting artist Henry Alken. Known for his dynamic equestrian scenes and detailed depictions of English racing life, Alken’s works are highly regarded among collectors of sporting art.
