French Boulle Inalid Chair
Boulle work is a type of rich marquetry process or inlay perfected by the French cabinetmaker André Charles Boulle who worked in France in the 17th and 18th Century. It involves veneering furniture with tortoiseshell inlaid primarily with brass and pewter in elaborate designs often incorporating arabesques. This particular piece will have used a faux tortoiseshell inlay but is stunning none-the-less with it’s cabriole legs, nailhead trim, bronze capped feet, and beautiful gold upholstery.
