Bench Made Solid Walnut Silver Chest
It is not often we are able to attribute a piece of furniture to one specific craftsman, but thanks to a tag from a previous sale (for $1075) at another shop, we are able to credit this bench made Queen Anne silver chest to Elmer Clark, made in 1975. It is safe to say, based on this creation, that Clark was an excellent woodworker, beautifully putting together this chest with smooth lines, dovetailed drawers, and cabriole legs. The solid walnut used displays the effect known as chatoyancy, in which the light reflects on the grain creating a 3D optical illusion similar to gemstones like tigers eye.
